How Many Terminals Are at O’Hare?

• Concourse B has a direct connection to the main terminal building
• Concourse C is a satellite terminal and is connected to the main terminal via a neon-lit underground pedestrian tunnel that is one of the most famous areas in the entire airport

Terminal 2 – Domestic Mixed Carrier Terminal

Terminal 3 – American Airlines Hub Terminal

Traveling from Terminal to Terminal: ATS Train

ATS Train is a free and automated train service that operates 24/7 at O’Hare Airport, connecting all terminals.

• Connects Terminals 1, 2, 3, and 5, as well as parking structures and the Multi-Modal Facility
• Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are connected airside as well, allowing you to walk from one terminal to another, staying in the secure area all the time
• Walking from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3 airside takes approximately 15-20 minutes

Connection Time Requirements

Minimum connection time requirements depend on whether you’re connecting from/to domestic or international flights:

• Domestic to Domestic (Terminals 1, 2 or 3): at least 60 minutes
• International to Domestic (Terminal 5 to other terminal): at least 2 hours, due to customs procedures, luggage re-check and TSA
• International to International (Terminal 5): usually the fastest one at 60-90 minutes

• The CTA Blue Line heads directly into downtown Chicago and can be accessed from the Multi-Modal Facility using the ATS
• Uber and Lyft pickups are located on the upper departures level of Terminal 2 (doors 2A-2F) and Terminal 3 (doors 3G-3K)
• If passengers land at Terminal 1 or 5, they’ll have to move to Terminals 2 and 3 using the ATS to access their ride service

Some Quick Tips for Navigating the ORD Map

Some useful practices will help you to get around O’Hare Airport much more easily:

• Be sure to double-check your boarding pass for your actual terminal assignment — your flight could be reassigned, and some international flights depart from Terminals 1 and 3 instead of Terminal 5
• Allow additional time for those connections which require passing through the customs checkpoint once again
• If you don’t have any checked luggage, the airside journey from Terminals 1, 2 and 3 will take less time than waiting for the ATS
